Biography

For more than 30 years, I held senior level positions in the Information Technology (IT) field.  My last appointment in the Public Sector was Associate Commissioner and Chief Information Officer for New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the largest municipal developer in the United States.  A position I held from 1999 until retirement in 2007.

Prior to joining HPD, I held a number of senior management IT positions with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority including Director of Surface Transit Systems with the New York City Transit; Chief Information Officer for Long Island Bus; and, Director of Technical Services and Support for the MTA Bridges and Tunnels where I was the senior member of the technical team responsible for the design and implementation of E-ZPass, the largest electronic toll collection system world-wide.

I was the recipient of New York City’s Excellence in Technology Award for the best City-wide application.  In addition I held the position of Vice Chairperson of New York City’s Municipal Data Processing Council from 2004 – 2007; a organization of more than 50 New York City’s CIOs.

Since retirement, I have been sharing my expertise and IT knowledge with students at Estrella Mountain Community College. In 2012 I received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty award.

I am an IRS certified tax preparer, instructor and site coordinator for VITA/TCE (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Tax Counseling for the Elderly) serving the low to moderate income community.

I am the Vice President, Operations, Phoenix Division, FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer organization that works in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation on community outreach programs to promote public safety and security through community engagement, education, and service initiatives.

Additionally, I am a certified handgun instructor and range safety officer.
