Who Am I?

I have over 28 years of experience in the field of education--starting out as a Para-Professional in the Career & Technical Education – Business Department and then receiving my teacher certification. My primary teaching duties were in the area of Business and Computer Applications at Metro Tech Vocational Institute of Phoenix (High School); Computer Applications and Digital Communication at Willow Canyon High School; and Technology Life Careers at Country Meadows Elementary. After many years in the public K-12 setting I felt that I could better reach and impact students in the post-secondary level and have been teaching for the past 9 years with the Maricopa Community College District; Estrella Mountain, Paradise Valley, and Glendale, as well as three years at Brown Mackie College. The courses that I have taught at the college level are: Survey of Computer Information Systems, Excel Spreadsheets (Beginning and Advanced), Word-processing (Beginning and Advanced), Professional Presentations (PowerPoint), Publisher, Introduction to Microcomputer Applications, Fundamentals of Web-based Systems, Digital Media and Graphic Communications, Principles of Logic and Problem Solving, End-User Support, Computer Systems and Software, Keyboarding and Ten-Key by Touch. In addition to my teaching background, I have over 7 years experience in retail and real estate in a variety of roles; including management, customer service, and financial estimating.

To go along with my employment background in both education and business, I have an extensive academic background. I have a Masters Degree in Secondary Education with a strong concentration in Educational Technology to go along with my Bachelors Degree in Global Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources, my Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification in Secondary Education, and my Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. I also have over 35 years experience working with personal computers and software applications, especially in all of the Microsoft based personal software packages; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Database systems; by taking coursework in, as well as teaching classes in these areas.

My goal is to work in an environment where all students have the ability to learn and are given every available opportunity to succeed. For many years now I have been a major advocate of continued education, and I believe that by working with students, I will be able to coax and guide them into making the correct choices, like staying in school and making the right decisions in life. As a teacher, sometimes we are the last hope in the life of a student, and I would love to know that I was able to help make a difference in shaping someone’s goals and decisions.
