Yá'át'ééh, Hello. I am Native American from the Navajo and Cherokee Nations. Born and raised in New Mexico, I attended New Mexico State University where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and a Master's degree in Biology. Working on the Navajo reservation triggered my desire to teach. I have always loved science which led me to a graduate degree in biology. My position as a faculty member at EMCC has allowed me to integrate my dedication to serving my community through teaching and my love of science. Mostly, I teach non-majors Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 160) and General Biology (BIO 181) in both the hybrid and face to face format. After moving to Arizona, I earned a Doctor of Education degree from Arizona State University wherein my research centered on self-regulated learning. As such, my teaching style is one that encourages student motivation, resource and time management, and self-reflection and metacognition.
