I have taught, as both a residential and adjunct faculty, for 40 years at six, different colleges within the Maricopa District and those six colleges are MCC, CGCC, SCC, GCC, PVCC, and now EMCC. It's interesting that each college has it's own unique organizational culture, but yet, all have the same mission of helping students reach their educational/career goals. However, each college approaches that goal differently.
The four, different subject areas I've taught are: Accounting, General Business, Management, and Marketing. My corporate work experience includes about 15 years of increasing responsibilities from being a bookkeeper to an accountant, a banker, and an entrepreneur of small businesses (rental property management and freelance educational writer), and most of this occurred concurrently while I taught as an adjunct faculty. I was a CPA for 12 years.
My instructional philosophy can be summed up in two words, "Students First." I've always been and always will be student-centered. Whatever I can do (within reason) to help students succeed and reach their educational goals, I will try to do. As I tell my students on Day 1, I will do what I can to help you learn accounting, but you have to meet me at least halfway by studying, studying, and studying. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and I hope it shows to everyone, not just the students.
As a freelance educational writer, I've written practice sets, instructors' manuals, test banks, etc. for a variety of accounting and management textbooks.
