I advise and I know things.
Anthropologists dig me.
Geologists think I rock.
... I often think I'm far more hilarious than I am.
I am one of the managers for the Advisement department and I run the Career and Transfer Center (CTC). This means that I work with students on choosing classes, yes, but I also make sure that you are prepared for the university or job you want to get into when you leave EMCC. We work with you to ensure that you're on the correct pathway for your goals, headed to a university that is going to fit your interests and values, and then we connect the two to make sure we have everything we need to make your transfer as seamless as possible. If you're looking for a job right now, we help you to create and perfect resumes/CVs, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles and provide tips and tricks to get through the job search and interview process painlessly!
I also teach English on this campus and enjoy every minute of watching my students fall in love with the writing process (or at least learn to not hate it quite so much). For Spring 2023, my ENG101 classes are focused on nostalgia! This means we're looking through our rose-colored glasses at all of the things that have made us who we are. It's a great time!
I am passionate about all things STEM, minority and first-generation college students, community engagement, and saving the world!
I speak fluent nerd and movie quotes and you shouldn’t be surprised to find me around campus with brightly colored hair, a superhero t-shirt or accessory, and no less than four visible film or literature-based tattoos. Someday I plan to take over the world; come make friends with me now and I'll make sure you get a good job when that happens!
