My name is Allen Reyes and I'm one of the residential faculty members at Estrella Mountain Community College. I've been a chemistry educator for over 10 years supporting students at ASU and at EMCC. I primarily teach introductory chemistry (CHM130) and general chemistry (CHM151). I have many interests, most of which include science, sports, or technology. I want to continue to develop myself in multiple facets and I take pride in continually becoming a better me. I enjoy being an asset to my community whether that is in my workplace, my community, or in any situation I happen to be in. These are traits that I hope my students pick up on and maybe incorporate themselves.
My learning philosophy is ever changing but I feel like one saying has continually resounded in me. It states something to the effect of "If your only tool is a hammer, then everything begins to look like a nail." As an educator, my goal is to outfit my students with tools other than the figurative hammer. I want to show them that there are many "tools" out there and not only that, I want to help them be able to discern when to use them and how to do so.
