Biography

Jeff Hengesbach holds a BA from Arizona State University in Secondary Education, with dual majors in Physics and Math, a MA from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership and a PhD in Educational Technologies from Grand Canyon University. After serving in the United States Air Force, I began my career as a high school science teacher after participating in the first modeling workshop in 1992 while an undergraduate physics student at Arizona State University. Over the years I have taught science courses from middle school to the graduate level, led Modeling Workshops across the nation, and supported modeling curricular and workshop development efforts. I have additionally held various leadership roles in several independent schools which has allowed me to live in several places around the nation. In addition to my adjunct teaching at EMCC, ASU and GCU, I have worked as a STEM Coach on a i^3 grant project, where I had the opportunity to support teachers and their students in numerous rural districts within Maricopa County and I was the executive officer for the American Modeling Teachers Association. In addition to my professional life, I am an avid reader and martial arts enthusiast, a dedicated father and husband, and adventure hiker and I enjoysbeing a member of EMCC's the faculty team.
