Biography

Hello, I am your instructor for this course, Jody McMullen. I have been teaching this course at EMCC for over two years. I am a licensed Speech Language Pathologist practicing within Arizona. I am currently the Lead Supervisor for Light Street Special Education Solutions, which provides special education related services to many districts around the Valley. I received my Bachelors Degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, and my Masters Degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from The State University of New York at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. Communication has been my passion for over 23 years, while working in Early Intervention, home-based services, clinical services, as well as, many years supporting the school age population. Over the years, I have enjoyed being a Clinical Fellowship Supervisor, Autism Program Manager, Graduate and Undergraduate Clinician Supervisor, as well as, a trainer and developer of special education and related service staff professional development. But above all, I love our field! I love that I get to go to work every day and support students in their ability to participate successfully in their lives, and to teach therapists and educators, working with students, how to achieve success. Every day is different! There aren’t many careers that can say that!

I am originally from Rochester, NY. Brrrrrr! My husband, and our two children, moved to Arizona in 2012, and have been loving it ever since! We have a passion for life and love exploring this amazing state! I’m excited to bring that passion and positivity into the learning environment, and look forward to supporting every student who has chosen this great career path, as a SLPA! I know you are going to love this course!
