Kari.Watson
Hi Everyone! My name is Kari Watson, and I am your instructor for this class. I am excited to work with each one of you and to get to know you as best as I can. I have been a speech language pathologist for over 20 years...Yikes! I joined Estrella Mountain Community College as an adjunct faculty member in the Spring of 2007 to help develop and promote the Speech Language Pathology Assistant Program. I received my Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and my Bachelors of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. I have been extremely fortunate to have worked in a variety of settings, which included hospitals, one of the largest sub-acute tracheotomy and ventilator units west of the Mississippi, skilled nursing facilities, an inpatient rehabilitation unit, home health, private practice, and in the educational setting. I have mentored and supervised many speech language pathologists and speech language pathology assistants throughout the greater Phoenix area and in Tucson. Also, I have also presented many continuing education workshops. I have had the opportunity to have worked with patients/clients ranging from 1 year of age until one expires. I have also been fortunate to have seen many different types of disabilities and communication disorders and I am so excited to share some of my personal experiences with you.
