Regina.Hernandez-Garcia
Greetings! I am Regina, an advisor within the Culture/Society and Behavioral Sciences and Human Services advising team here at EMCC. It is an honor to serve students in the West Valley. I was born and raised in Maryvale and graduated from Trevor G. Browne High School (go Bruins!). I am a first-generation college student, starting my educational career at Phoenix College, studying Journalism. Later on, I transferred to Arizona State University (ASU), and after a long journey, received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. It took me some time to decide what I wanted to do as a career, and after twelve years of working at ASU, I knew higher education was the place for me; it just clicked. I quickly enrolled in a Master’s degree program at ASU and upon graduation was admitted into a Ph.D. program at Illinois State University. It was always a dream to attend a school out-of-state, and I knew this was my time to do it. My passion is helping individuals find their passion and match the education that goes along with it. Now entering my seventeenth year in higher education, I’m excited to find new, innovative ways to enhance the college experience.
When not doing homework, I love to spend time with my family, which includes my daughter, husband, and dogs (two chi-weenies, a pug, and greagle). When time permits, I love to read for leisure, try new restaurants, and check out local museums.
