Biography

I teach English Composition, Literature and Humanities courses here at Estrella Mountain Community College. I have served as a faculty member at Estrella since 1990 and have taught college and university courses for over 38 years for Samford University, Northern Arizona University, Central Arizona College, Central Arizona Regional Law Officer's Training Academy, Scottsdale Community College, and Glendale Community College.

I enjoy hiking, art (watercolor and oil painting), building (furniture, stained glass windows, and scale modeling), reading (pretty much anything and everything), listening to music (again, a wide range), watching cinema (independent, sci-fi, horror, action-adventure--and comedy of course), and I love spending time with my wife, our family, two Macaws, a cat, and dog.

Academic Interests
My ongoing academic interests are pretty wide-ranging. My focus is on the works and mythology of J.R.R. Tolkien, the Arthurian literary tradition, Medieval English history and literature, and Anglo-Saxon language and literature. I am interested generally in history, animal behaviors/intelligence, world mythology, and the range of the humanities.
